McCarthy Architecture News

McCarthy Architecture was founded on the principle that clear and concise communication is the most important factor in the success of our professional relationships. The design and construction process is a complex undertaking that requires a coordinated and focused effort from all participants. At all stages of a project’s evolution, from schematic design to construction administration, our customers, consultants, suppliers, and contractors require up-to-date and complete information. Project meeting minutes, cost estimates, field reports, drawings, and 3D renderings are a few of the tools that we use toward that end.

Advantage Academy Progress

Since our last update, construction has greatly progressed along at Advantage Academy's campus expansion in Dallas.  At an existing office building which is being renovated for classrooms, interior finish-out is almost complete and the school will be preparing to move into this space over the coming weeks.  Once this space is online, then a similar classroom building which is currently being used by the school will be temporarily vacated and renovated to match the rest of the project.  Work at a new administrative wing connecting the two existing office/classroom buildings on the site is following not far behind, and is primarily focused around the installation of exterior Hardie paneling and interior drywall, painting and finishes.  At the cafeteria wing, framing is complete and work is continuing on the installation of exterior sheathing.

Richardson Bike Mart of McKinney Progress

At Richardson Bike Mart's new location in McKinney, construction has substantially progressed along since our last update.  At the exterior, masonry work has been completed and parapet caps are being finished out.  In addition, the installation of most windows and doors is complete.  In the interior, walls have been finished out and the space is being prepared for painting and the installation of finishes, mechanical and electrical systems.  Once this is complete, a retail consultant will install fixtures for sales and repair areas.

Lower Greenville Townhomes Progress

At the Lower Greenville-area townhomes, construction has continued to progress since our last update.  At 1831 Bennett, exterior work is almost complete, with only interior finish-out and site/landscaping work remaining.  At 5719 and 5907 Lindell, framing and exterior sheathing are complete and work is primarily focused around plumbing and electrical rough-ins along with the installation of windows and doors.  At 1821 Euclid, framing has mostly topped out and exterior sheathing is being installed.

Richardson Bike Mart of McKinney Progress

At Richardson Bike Mart's new location in McKinney, construction is continuing to progress along.  Since our last update, stud work on both the exterior and exterior is almost complete, and the installation of exterior sheathing has begun.  Once this is complete, then exterior masonry will be installed, which will be taking place over the coming weeks.

Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative Progress

Construction is rapidly approaching completion at Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative's new headquarters in Van Alstyne.  Around the exterior of the campus, remaining work consists of the installation of flatwork and landscaping.  In the interior of the office building, remaining finishing touches are being completed, and furniture installation is taking place throughout the facility with a goal of Grayson-Collin Electric moving into their new home by month's end.

Richardson Bike Mart of McKinney Progress

Since our last update, construction has greatly progressed along at Richardson Bike Mart's new store in McKinney.  Over the past several weeks, most steel has been erected at the site and exterior framing has begun.  In addition, a CMU wall separating the bike shop from an adjacent LA Fitness has been completed, and structural work is taking place at the parapets around the perimeter of the building.  Over the coming weeks, we will see the installation of exterior sheathing and masonry taking place, which will allow the building to be "dryed in" and interior work to begin.

First Baptist Wylie Progress

At First Baptist Wylie, construction is continuing to move along across the site.  The adult education classrooms which were being renovated in the first phase of work are now complete and in use by the church.  In the existing gym, the second floor slab has been filled in and walls have been framed for classrooms and multipurpose spaces.  In addition, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough ins are mostly complete.  Currently, acoustical insulation between the classrooms is being installed, preparing for the walls to be closed up.  Most visibly, construction is primarily centered at the new construction portion of the project.  Slabs for new circulation atriums have been poured, and structural steel is currently being erected.  Over the coming weeks, these spaces will begin to take their final shape, and will ultimately simplify circulation throughout the church campus.

Lower Greenville Townhomes Progress

Since our last update, construction has visibly progressed at all four Lower Greenville-area townhome projects.  At 1831 Bennett, exterior windows and doors have been installed, and the installation of exterior materials is beginning to give the project its final appearance.  In addition, interior work is beginning to take place as the building is sealed up.  At 5719 and 5907 Lindell, framing and exterior sheathing are almost complete, and we will be seeing the installation of windows, doors and exterior materials over the coming weeks.  In addition, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins will be taking place.  At 1821 Euclid, framing is continuing to take shape at the second floor, and will continue to move vertically.

Advantage Academy Progress

Construction is continuing to move along at Advantage Academy's campus expansion in Dallas.  At the new administrative wing connecting the two existing office/classroom buildings on the site, the slab is complete and framing has begun.  In addition, framing for a new cafeteria wing at the south end of the site is set to begin soon.  At the existing office building which is currently under renovation for classrooms, new Hardie panels are being installed around the parapets of the building to mirror the exterior materials of the expansions.  The other similar building which is currently in use will be renovated for new classrooms during this summer while school is out of session.  Over the coming weeks, framing work will continue to progress on the expansion spaces, while a new fire line and fire lane are also set to be installed through the site.

Lower Greenville Townhomes Progress

McCarthy Architecture wishes you a happy and restful Thanksgiving!  Today we have a construction update for the Lower Greenville area townhomes.

Over the past several weeks, construction has shown visible progress at all four townhome projects.  At 1831 Bennett Avenue, windows have been installed since our last visit, and mechanical and plumbing rough-ins are mostly complete.  At 5719 Lindell, framing and exterior sheathing are both almost complete, and work will be progressing to the interior in the coming weeks.  At 5907 Lindell, fourth floor framing is taking place, with construction moving towards the instalaltion of exterior sheathing once this is complete.  At 1821 Euclid, first floor framing and steel are complete, and the structure will be soon taking shape verticially.

Advantage Academy Progress

Over the past several weeks, construction has rapidly progressed at Advantage Academy's Dallas campus expansion.  Recently, slabs for both an administrative wing and a new cafeteria wing were poured.  In addition, work for a parking lot and drive area has begun, and these will be poured as site access permits.  At an existing office building which is being renovated for classrooms, framing is now complete, and rough-ins for mechanical, plumbing, electrical and data are taking place.  In the coming weeks, framing will also be taking place for the new expansion spaces.

Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative Progress

Construction is continuing to progress along at Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative's new headquarters in Van Alstyne.  At the exterior of the office building, soffit panels are being installed around the roof's perimeter, leaving sitework and landscaping remaining.  In the interior of the office building, grids for lay-in ceilings have been installed, and the installation of electrical fixtures, millwork and mechanical equipment is taking place.  In addition, the multipurpose room is beginning to take its final shape with the installation of suspended ceiling "clouds.  At both the warehouse and maintenance buildings, construction is almost complete, with only varying punch-list items remaining.

Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative Progress

Construction is continuing to progress along at Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative's new headquarters in Van Alstyne.  At the exterior of the office building, brick and stone veneers are complete, and metal paneling has been installed across the facade.  In the interior of the office building, finish-out work is continuing with the installation of lay-in ceilings, tile and other interior finishes, mechanical and electrical equipment, among other trades.  Over the coming weeks, work will be primarily be concentrated on the interior of the office building, with work at the warehouse and maintenance buildings almost complete.

Advantage Academy Progress

Construction is continuing to progress along at Advantage Academy's Dallas campus expansion.  At an existing office building, an existing mansard roof has been removed, alowing for the construction of a new parapet to reflect the aesthetic of new buildings to be constructed on the site.  In the interior of this space, new walls are being framed for classrooms and offices.  In addition, across the site, site preparations and earthwork have begun at the locations of future buildings and parking areas.

Richardson Bike Mart of McKinney

McCarthy Architecture is excited to be a part of the realization of a new retail space for Richardson Bike Mart in McKinney.  So far, construction efforts have focused around site preparation.  Currently, piers are being staked in preparation for drilling and pouring which will take place over the next couple of weeks.   In addition, a portion of the site has been excavated to allow for the relocation of an existing sanitary sewer line serving an adjacent LA Fitness.

Construction is continuing to progress along at the Lower Greenville area townhomes.  At 1831 Bennett Avenue, exterior framing and sheathing is complete, and interior mechanical/plumbing/electrical rough-ins will begin soon.  In addition, the installation of doors, windows and exterior finish materials will be visible from the street.  At 5719 Lindell, second floor framing is complete, and the structure is beginning to take shape vertically.  At 5907 Lindell, steel and framing at the first floor is complete, and second floor framing should begin soon.  At 1821 Euclid, steel to support the cantilevered upper floors is complete, and framing will continue to progress along.

Advantage Academy Progress

At Advantage Academy's Dallas campus, construction is continuing to progress along on the charter school's campus expansion.  Interior demolition within an existing office building has been completed, and the existing mansard roof at this building is in the process of being removed.  In addition, the large retaining wall at the back of the site has been completed along with a new fence, and a new storm sewer line is being installed in the area.

Lower Greenville Townhomes Progress

Construction is continuing to progress along at the Lower Greenville area townhomes.  At 1831 Bennett Avenue, framing has progressed to the fourth floor and should be complete in the coming weeks.  In addition, structural steel has been placed to support upper level patios.  At 5719 Lindell and 5907 Lindell, steel has been installed to support cantilivering of the upper floors over a drive lane, and the upper floors will begin framing soon.  At 1821 Euclid, first floor framing has begun to take shape.

First Baptist Wylie Progress

Construction recently broke ground for a large expansion and renovation project at First Baptist Wylie.  This project consists of several components, including the repurposing of an existing gym for a new childrens' wing, renovations to adult education spaces and the development of atriums which improve circulation throughout the church campus.  The first phase of the project consisted of demolishing a 1960's era classroom building which was in disrepair and greatly hampered traffic flow.  This was an intricate process, as this existing building had to be taken down without disturbing any adjacent structures.  In addition to the demolition of this building, construction is also progressing in both the future childrens' and adult education spaces.
