McCarthy Architecture was selected to assist EXCO in the design of a new office and warehouse facility in Wylie. EXCO had outgrown their current space with their expanding production of extrusion dies. The new facility is a 30,044 square foot building with 5,744 square feet of administration and employee areas including offices, a conference room, an open office space, locker rooms and a breakroom to accommodate up to 50 people. The warehouse of 24,000 square feet has a clear height of 24 feet and consists of multiple overhead gantry and jib cranes and a heat treat area. Extensive electrical provisions were made for specific equipment loads. The administrative portion of the facility is a conventional steel structure design with a slab on grade and a stone and stucco exterior. The warehouse space is a concrete tilt-up system with thickened slabs in response to equipment loads.
