Firm's Role: Master Planning
McCarthy Architecture had an established relationship with Saint Andrew United Methodist Church when the church commissioned a master plan for their 28 acre campus. Previously, McCarthy Architecture had completed an education building for the church and as the congregation grew a new larger sanctuary building was contemplated. The master plan accommodated a major ravine and creek running through the center of the acreage. A new vehicular bridge was included in the campus circulation routing. The bridge served as a spillway for the creek and created a pond upstream that integrated planned gathering areas and a pavilion for special events. The ravine and creek was used as a feature in the planning of the new sanctuary as lower level classrooms opened onto terraces looking over a planned garden landscape utilizing the creek bed and existing rock outcroppings to best advantage.
