Throughout all stages of the design process, McCarthy Architecture takes a holistic approach to integrating sustainable strategies into any design solution.  McCarthy Architecture understands from research and past applications that the implementation of sustainable design strategies creates healthier working and living environments which contribute to higher productivity and improved health and comfort for a building’s occupants.  The integration of sustainable strategies begins in the earliest phases of any project in which McCarthy Architecture identifies key issues generated by the project’s program, site and usage patterns.  Key sustainability issues often include but are not limited to: energy and water usage, the use of sustainable materials, overall material health and indoor environmental quality.  By continuously analyzing and addressing key issues and opportunities such as these, McCarthy Architecture is able to ensure that sustainable design strategies are integrated into every project in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

Considering sustainability as a fundamental part of basic programing for any project is an outward demonstration of commitment to the environment and a critical step towards potential LEED certification.  McCarthy Architecture has experience designing and submitting projects for LEED certification.  In addition, McCarthy Architecture has extensive experience working with and documenting for local and regional green building standards, such as the City of Dallas Green Building Ordinance.

The architectural industry is continuously evolving with the advancement of building information modeling (BIM) and digital design software.  Each new technology has opened doors to a host of new capabilities including: laying out and coordinating complex building systems with BIM, integrating and testing sustainable design strategies, better understanding spatial relationships within a building or across a project site, and producing renderings and animations to assist in promotions and capital campaigns.  By continuously integrating these technologies and capabilities within the design and construction process, McCarthy Architecture is able to achieve added efficiency and enhanced communication between the Owner, Architect, Consultants and Contractor.
