McCarthy Architecture partnered with First Texas Homes to design the Birdsong Amenity Center in Mansfield, Texas, creating a community destination centered around outdoor recreation and everyday use.
A defining architectural element of the amenity center is its floating roof design. The roof creates a strong visual identity while providing generous covered areas around the pool.
At the center of the property is a large community swimming pool surrounded by dedicated lounging areas. Covered gathering spaces give residents places to step out of the Texas sun while remaining connected to activity around the pool. Outdoor grill facilities provide additional space for neighborhood gatherings.
The amenity center also includes integrated restroom and shower facilities designed to support residents throughout their time at the pool.
For McCarthy Architecture, projects like Birdsong are about understanding how residents will actually use a space and designing around that experience. From the floating roof structure to the relationship between shaded areas and the pool, each element works together to support a functional community amenity for Birdsong residents.
